Gateway Club's Meet Me in St. Louis Gathering

The Gateway Miata CLub hosted a national event in their home town called Meet Me In St. Louie on September 30-October 3,.

WCMC was well represented and even won a plaque for best club attendance, so we owe Chris & Judy a big thanks for getting the club involved and leading us down there!

Here's a view of the arch from Judy's car.

The event included competitive and very scenic rallies with sign hunts, do-it-yourself driving tours, car games in the parking lot, a moonlight drive, events at the racetrack, a Concours d'Elegance, a few vendors, a dynometer, opportunites to have work done on your car, and much more.

Meet Me in St. Louie met all the criteria for a good Miata event:eating, drinking and driving. We enjoyed good roads (starting on our caravan down and continuing through various rallies and drives); good food (from banquets at the hotel, to trips to Ted Drewes on old Rt. 66 for ice cream, and even coolers provided with sandwiches for lunches on the go); good drinks (wine tasting and purchasing at the wineries, cocktail hour at the hotel, and drinks outside at the concourse by the hotel); and, as always, good times with old and new friends!

Here are WCMC members enjoying a wine-tasting at one of the wineries on the Weinstrasse Rally (which the Collings and Arbuckles took prizes in).

All cars at the event entered the Concours d'elegance for "People's Choice" awards. NEWT won 1st place in it's category, and JAX MLC won third in its category.

Another highlight was the day at the Gateway International Raceway. Well over 100 cars lined up at the hotel early in the morning and drove 30 minutes to the raceway for a parade lap and group photo. Some stayed to enjoy the auto cross and other track events, while others returned to enjoy more of the area on rallies or do-it-yourself drives.
I think it's safe to say that a good time was had by all!
