Western Springs Memorial Day Parade and Barbeque

Dan Rogers and his parents, Frank and Sue, will be hosting a barbeque after the Memorial Day Parade in Western Springs, Monday, May 29th.

Anyone looking to participate in the parade is welcome to meet at the Rogers residence before the parade to decorate their cars or do any other pre-parade primping their cars may need.

We should arrive in Western Springs by about 9:00 am, so that would mean leaving our house by 8:45, so plan accordingly. The parade steps off the corner of Burlington and Central at 10:00 am and lasts about an hour.

If you would prefer, you can meet us at about 9:00 am in Western Springs on Central Ave north of 47th where we will be lining up before the parade.

After the parade we will return to the Rogers' house for a barbeque. Everyone is welcome at the barbeque whether or not you drive in the parade. The Rogers’ will provide hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone and ask that you bring a dish to share and your favorite beverage. Also if anyone has some chairs we could use that would be very helpful. You can drop things off that morning or the day or two before if need be. Just be sure anything you want returned is labeled so you can get it back.

A few things you need to know: Wolf Road, southbound is closed between 55th street and Plainfield Road so coming back to the house from Western Springs you will need to take Willow Springs Road, which is a half mile east of Wolf Road, to either Plainfield Road or Joliet Road to get back to Wolf Road. Because of the construction on Wolf, it may be a little dusty heading north to get to the parade. We do not have curbs in front of our house so you may park there or in front of the house across the street, or you may park on either of the side streets to the west, Central Ave or 71st Street – we will try to fit as many cars in the driveway as we can. Dan also said to warn you that we have speed humps on our street for those of you who have cars that are extra low to the ground. You need to go over 2 speed humps to get to our house from Wolf Road.
