RULES

What's new for 2005?

  • CLASS D changed to Race Tires <OR> Forced Induction.
  • CLASS E changed to Race Tires <AND> Forced Induction.
  • New PRO CLASS - volunteer class for veteran drivers who repeatedly win. (see a coordinator for details)
  • NO membership applications will be excepted at an autox event.
  • Season Points will not be made available until after the year end banquet. Drivers will need to calculate their own points if desired.
  • Car Numbers: If you are not a "regular" WCMC driver, you will be assigned a random car number. Number requests needlessly slow down registration. We will have polish available for marking on windows or bring your own assortment of magnetic numbers.
  • Car Numbers (cont): we will have a limited stock of magnetic numbers for sale at the events. Once the supply is gone...it's gone.
  • Guest Policy: eliminated the "2 events then you must join" policy. Guests may do as many or few events as desired.

    Car classes for the 2005 season will be:
    A = novice (those who are new to autoxing)
    B = '90 - '93
    C1 = '94 - '97
    C2 = '99 - '03
    D = race tires or forced induction -any year miata
    E = race tires and forced induction -any year miata
    X1 = non-miata under 2.5 liter
    X2 = non-miata over 2.5 liter
    Pro = volunteer class for veteran drivers who repeatedly win

GENERAL AUTOX RULES AND REGS

LATE FEE:  In order to provide all competitors with as many autocross runs as possible, we have decided to encourage prompt registration. Registrations after 9:15 am will be assessed a $5.00 surcharge. The drivers' meetings will begin at 9:30 am and, for safety reasons, people who miss the drivers' meetings will not be allowed to register.

New as of 2004 - Drivers who share one car will run in separate run groups.

GUEST POLICY

  • non-members may participate in any WCMC autox events.
  • non-member entry fees of $25 for Miatas and $30 for non-Miatas. See the Dues Schedule if you're curious about member rates...and yes non-miata owners can join the WCMC.

As always, spectators are free (and welcome). For insurance purposes, they must sign a waiver of liability. Spectators (and drivers) under 18 need a parent or guardian's signature, too.

The philosophy/goals of the speed events coordinators are:

  • Give members a safe way to improve their driving skills
  • Provide a supportive introduction to the sport of autox
  • Provide a fun, sporting competition for members

Car and driver classifications for the 2005 autocross season

Classes A, B, and C are for Miatas on street (not "R" compound or treadwear less than 140) tires with OEM 1.6 or 1.8 liter engine blocks. All modifications are allowed, except superchargers, turbochargers, or nitrous injection*.
* if you have extensive engine modifications (ie. racing cam, pistons, etc) the Speed Events Coordinators may ask you to move to class E

See below for full details, but in a nutshell these are the classifications:
