Classes A, B, C, D, and E are for Miatas on street (not "R" compound or treadwear less than 140) tires with OEM 1.6 or 1.8 liter engine blocks. All modifications are allowed, except superchargers, turbochargers, or nitrous injection*.
* If you have extensive modifications to your engine, chassis, or suspension (ie. racing cam, piston modifications, chassis braces, larger brakes/braided lines, etc) the Speed Events Coordinators may ask you to move to Class F.

  • We offer to match each first-time driver with a more experienced "buddy" who can ride along during the morning runs.

• Etc.

Class A
No season championship is awarded for Class A. Novices may begin autocrossing at any time of the year. However, times recorded in class A are scored towards the appropriate class for season championship, and we award a "Rookie of the Year" for the best newcomer, regardless of classification. Thus a driver can start the season in A, move up to their appropriate class mid-season, and still count the best six events in their appropriate class for the season awards.

Classes B, C, D, and E
Season points are earned relative to the street tire fast time of the day (STFTD). Each competitor will earn season points based on:
Points = 1000 * (STFTD) / (best run).

Classes F and P
Season points are earned relative to the overall Miata Fast Time of the day (MFTD):
Points = 1000 * (MFTD) / (best run).

Classes R, T, U, and V
Season points are earned relative to the MFTD. Should a Non-Miata (Class R, T, U, or V) get fast time of the day (FTD)...they will receive 1000+ points.
Points = 1000 * (MFTD) / (best run).

Moving to Class F Midseason
Drivers who run part of the season on street tires or without forced induction in classes B thru E, and then move to class F, can elect to earn season points in class F by having their street tire times indexed by the MFTD.

To help in maintaining Season Points, points will only be recorded for club members. If you are not a club member you will not have Season Points recorded and will not be eligible to win the Points Championship at the end of the year.
