Hello everyone..

My name is Dan and im from erie, PA.. im going to be moving with my 97 Turbo'd miata in July to Westchester or an area nearby..

hoping to get involved with some drives or scca events and was seeing what the area is like there..

Ill be working in Westchester with a fairly modest salary, for chicago atleast.. and was wondering what a good area to live would be (probably renting a 2 bedroom, or a small house..) and i dont mind a 1/2hr commute from any direction.

Looking forward to the move..

p.s. here is my car.. i may by bringing both my red '90, and my montego blue '97..

Alright! Welcome aboard! Although the forum is not always active, don't let that be a testimate to how active the club really is. You'll find the club calender on the homepage with all the events going on this summer, which include autocross, one or multiple tank and/or day tours, parades, and our all important monthly meetings. We are known for hosting very safe, efficient, and fun events (typical autocross is 10+ runs/car!), and you'll fit right in.

For living locations, the biggest burden right now is construction in Chicago. If you look at a map, I-290 is the main route in and out of Chicago in that area...and is currently only 2 lanes in both directions. To say it's a commuters nightmare would be a massive understatement. You could just about walk to Chicago faster than you could drive it on I-290. Working in Westchester, your best bet (if you don't want to live in Chicago), is to stay south and west of Westchester. Put a box around I-88, I-355, I-55, and La Grange Rd. (Mannheim/45/12/20), and that will put you in good communities and good school districts, with a commute that is half hour or less. La Grange, La Grange Park, Brookfield are all good areas, but east of there gets questionable (read ghetto).

I live in Clarendon Hills.

thanks for the tips... thats great.. i dont want to live downtown, i would like a cheap suburban setting at a cheap price.. maybe even close to the EL if its nice.. biggest issues are that ill be bringing with me 2 miatas, a cts-v (hopefully) and a company car..so parking and storage for tools and such is a big deal.. Is there anyone else with a forced induction miata around?

I understand the parking woes. I have trouble now and then just having two cars as a renter!

Our club's F class for autocross is the forced induction class on street tires, which typically has 5-6 cars, and then there are a few who run r-comp as well. We strike up good competition considering the variety of t/c and s/c setups being run.

I moved to Chicago a year ago. Still haven't had a chance to meet the club members. Shame on me.

I still have problem with parking in Chicago. Anyone knows if storing the Miata off-site would be a viable option? I don't mind driving to an off-site location to swap out my daily car with the Miata for the weekend and track activity.
