The Car is the Star!

2003 Participation Program

Highlights:

  1. Driving events take priority over social events.
  2. This is strictly about participation – there is a completely separate program of recognition for event organizers.

Rules:

  1. No event qualifies for any points until it is approved by the Vice-President.
  2. The schedule below covers many kinds of events, but the Vice-President will decide the exact points as part of placing an event on the calendar.
  3. Event organizers submit the names of participants, with points earned, to the Vice-President, after each event.
  4. Event organizers receive these points (only) if they also participate.
  5. The officers decide the type of recognition to be given at the end of the season.

Point schedule:

  1. WCMC events featuring Miatas (e.g. tour, autocross, car show, tech day)

·         Half-day event (under 6 hours)     3 points

·         Full-day event (scheduled for at least 6 hours)      5 points

·         Multi-day event – First day     5 points

·         Additional days     4, 3, 2, 1, 0

  1. Non-WCMC events featuring Miatas (e.g. regional gathering,
other club’s tour) No points if the car is not a Miata.

·         First day     3 points

·         Additional days     2, 1, 0

  1. Other

·         Monthly business meeting     3 points

·         Article in the newsletter (unrelated to event organization
or “Pit Crew” duties)     2 points

·         Miatas for breakfast     1 point

·         Community service project (Food Depository,
Habitat for Humanity, etc.)     1 point

·         Other social event (BBQ, golf, etc.)     1 point

A member can earn a maximum of 5 points per day.

·         Example: Attend an autocross (5 points) and a barbeque (1 point) on the same day; earn only 5 points.

In other words, a two-day trip is worth 9 points, 3 days gets 12, etc. Reasons: most multi-day trips are actually partial on the first or last day; longer trips require vacation days, and should not be hugely rewarded. Points are awarded for the scheduled days, not for personal extensions.
