NOTE: Updated location (address) and time!

To start the year off, we are having a breakfast AND A TOUR. The breakfast will be from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. We will then have the longest tour of the year so far, with a walk across the street to a video gamers dreamland called the Galloping Ghost Arcade. Doc, the owner, is going to let us in an hour before the arcade officially opens to start the tour.

So why is the Galloping Ghost a dreamland you may ask, well let me tell you it’s an awesome place. If you like arcade games you are going to love it. If you are not in to gaming, you will still enjoy talking with Doc the owner about the arcade and walking through looking at all the games. He is going to give us a tour and answer any questions we may have. For example:

* How did the arcade start?

* How do you find games that you do not already have?

* Where do you find parts and the schematics to repair the games?

* Where do you repair the games?

* How much work do you usually have to do to a typical game once purchased?

* What was the most disrepair a game has been in when you purchased it and how much work did it take to bring it back to life?

* How often do you have to repair the game once it is on the floor?

* Have any of the original game developers visited and talked to you about the games?

* And anything else we can come up with.

How long will this portion of the tour last you may ask, well that depends on us. He’ll answer questions until we run out of questions to ask. If we keep asking them he’ll keep answering them. Some of us may be content to sit and talk for hours and then go play games, but others may want to break away early and go home or start playing games when the arcade opens at 11:00 am.

And speaking of playing games, there are plenty of them to play. The Galloping Ghost is the WORLDS LARGEST video arcade, and currently has over 690 games to play from the 80’s and 90’s. New games are added weekly, not to mention the pinball arcade that will be open by the time we have the tour!

Unlike most arcades, they do not use quarters or tokens. All of their games are set to FREE PLAY! They charge a $20 door fee for the video arcade, $15 door fee for the pinball arcade, $30 for both, and then you can come in and play ALL the games you want until 2AM. If you get hungry part way through the day, you can leave, eat, and return for the PacMan punishment you probably deserve.

If you think you are good at any of the games, they are set up to humble you with a quick glance at the top of every machine. If you dare to look up there, they have the high score for that machine for the arcade. Just above that is the world record for the game. Many of the games have had the World Record set on that machine while at Galloping Ghost. They currently have over 180+ World Records set there!

I am opening this tour up to more than just WCMC members. I have hopes of a large group to play games with us, because the more the merrier. As a side benefit if we reach over 30 people we will get a group discount on our entry fee. So if you know anyone that would like to spend some time at the arcade playing games with us, invite them along or tell them to arrive at 11:00 am. This is the OTM time of the year after all, which means we can bring more passengers along with us.

And don’t worry about bringing the family to an arcade thinking it is not the type of environment you want to bring them to. This is a very family friendly establishment, and the last time I was there on a Saturday, there where entire families there aging from grade school kids to kids in their 70’s.

See you on the 5th, and leave your roll of quarters at home, because all you need is $20 and you are set for the day. If I can get others to stay with me, I plan to be there until they close. Let’s see if anyone else can do it or if I am the last man standing. Don’t leave me alone to defend the universe by myself, I know it is unlimited play, but I WILL require help.

Parking is by the arcade, any close business that is not open on the weekend, and on side streets. Do not park in the restaurant parking lot as it is small and we do not want to take parking away from restaurant customers for an extended amount of time.
