Join us on Saturday, October 5 for breakfast at Emily’s Pancake House, 1910 E. Grand Avenue (Route 132), Lindenhurst, beginning at 8 am.  After breakfast we will lead an approximately two-hour drive into southern Wisconsin to the Apple Barn Orchard, Winery and Country Store just outside Elkhorn.

Apple Barn is a family owned business on the Jacobson farm, which dates back to 1848.  The winery produces a variety of fruit wines from their very own fruit or fruit sourced locally from other nearby farms.  The country store also specializes in “home-grown” products including jams, jellies, butters, salsas, honey, cheese (of course!), and made-from-scratch bakery, as well as some craft and home décor items.  We will be there during Apple Fest!  You can enjoy apple-picking or buy their pre-picked apples, featuring Honey Crisp and other varieties.  There will also be hay rides, wine tasting, fresh apple cider donuts in the bakery, food carts, live music, and crafters.  For the young or young-at-heart (or those of us who simply refuse to act our age?) there will be face painting and a tree maze.  (If you plan to bring anyone under age 18 PLEASE let us know ahead of time so we can prepare the appropriate waivers.)

Breakfast will begin at 8 am, and the drive will begin at 9:30 so we can arrive at Apple Barn in the late morning.  You will be free to spend as much or as little time at Apple Barn as you like.  We will provide directions from there to Interstate 43 or Interstate 94 for your trip home.

We hope you will be able to join us!  Watch the club website or email for any updates.
