July 4th Parade - Evanston
Thursday, July 04, 2019
Hits : 294

Who doesn’t love a parade?  Especially on the Fourth of July!  And especially when we are yet again the returning champs in the Automotive Division!

Join us for WCMC’s return to the Evanston 4th of July Parade.  We will be gathering for brunch at 11:00 at:

               Ridgeview Grill

               827 Ridge Road

               Wilmette, IL

The Ridgeview Grill is located at Lake and Ridge (Wilmette), less than 1.5 miles from the parade staging area. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant accessible from either street.

At 12:30 we will drive to our assigned place in the Parade staging area. We’ll have time to decorate our cars, show off our handiwork, and check out some of the other Parade participants before the Parade steps off at 2:00 pm. If you are joining us just for the Parade and not for brunch, we’ll meet you in the Ridgeview Parking lot at 12:30.

The Evanston July 4th Parade has been called “one of the best small town Parades in America.” Its history dates to 1921 when the North End Mother’s Club formed the North Evanston 4th of July Association “to provide a full day of safe, supervised, constructive activities for children.”  Thousands of people stake out their spot along the route days in advance; in fact this year, the City of Evanston has asked people not to set out chairs prior to July 1.  (Seriously, is there any other community that does this?)  These enthusiastic spectators line the route year after year to cheer on Parade participants whatever the weather brings.

A couple of notes:

Candy-tossing is not permitted.

Bring patriotic red, white and blue decorations for your Miata (and yourself).

You should expect to be driving the Parade route for about an hour.  (Yes, it’s that big.)

For planning purposes we need your RSVP by phone 773-283-4336 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please let us know by July 2 if you will join us for:

Just Brunch  or

Brunch and the Parade or

Just the Parade

We look forward to celebrating the 4th with you!
