On what could be a cold winter’s night – assuming winter does arrive and stay for while – we are going to a place known for warm hospitality and good home cooking. Kappy’s American Grill is a 40-year northside institution owned and operated by Gus Alpogianis and family. It has a long history of commitment to and sponsorship of community events. Son George continues the family tradition, managing the restaurant.

Kappy’s is located at 7200 West Dempster (Dempster & Harlem), Morton Grove, about 3 miles east of the Dempster Exit from I-294.

The food is Greek-influenced, but Kappy’s has a wide-ranging menu from Burgers – the lamb burger being one of my (John’s) favorites – to Salads (Asian Noodle Salad being another favorite) to Ribs to Athenian Chicken. And prices are very reasonable. Check out the menu at kappysrestaurant.com.
