Kicking Covid to the Curb Tour 2021 II - Batavia
Saturday, June 12, 2021, 08:30am
Hits : 215

This is the sequel.

Are you and your Miata ready to party? This is repeat of the tour we did in 2020.

It is what we call a one tank tour, actually a bit more than half a tank if you keep your foot off the loud pedal!

June 12th, 8:30 departure from Depot Museum in Batavia to Gus’s Drive Inn and back.

170 miles all told. About 50 miles before the fun starts, then 30 miles of twisty roads, eat some lunch and then bomb the same roads one more time on the way back and maybe even an ice cream stop on the way back if you kids behave.

We will be departing from the Batavia Depot Museum at 155 Houston St. Batavia IL 60510.

There is a McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts within a block of the Museum. We aren’t going to visit the museum, this is just the departure address. Please arrive before 8:00 AM as we plan on leaving by 8:30. We have an alternate meet-up in Mchenry for our northern friends.

We will follow the Fox River North past the Cheddar Curtain and be driving some familiar roads to members that have been around a while. The surprise is many have been repaved recently and are better than I remember.

Lunch will be at Gus’s Drive Inn which is a popular hang out for car enthusiasts. It is outside seating and the ordering is also done outdoors. Given that it could be quite busy, please bring a folding chair just in case all the tables are occupied.

After lunch we will retrace most of our steps with the tour ending on Route 31 South in Illinois. We will pass 43, I90, route 20, and so forth so just veer off on whatever road will get you home.

We will be practicing social distancing and ask that you respect the 6 foot distance guideline as well as having a mask available when that isn’t possible. As we finally get out of the Covid nightmare of the past year, please consider some are still being very careful of Covid, so ask if it is ok to sit with others at lunch and stops along the way. We will probably be adding some verbiage on these practices in the waiver you will be required to sign and not following the rules will result in you being asked to leave.

There will be no charge for the tour.
